Her gates have sunk into the ground;
He has destroyed and (A)broken her bars.
(B)Her king and her princes are among the [a]nations;
(C)The Law is no more,

10 The elders of the daughter of Zion
(E)Sit on the ground and keep silence;
[c]They (F)throw dust on their heads
And (G)gird themselves with sackcloth.
The virgins of Jerusalem
Bow their heads to the ground.

11 (H)My eyes fail with tears,
My [d]heart is troubled;
(I)My [e]bile is poured on the ground
Because of the destruction of the daughter of my people,
Because (J)the children and the infants
Faint in the streets of the city.
